Mihir Shah, son of a Shiv Sena leader, is accused of a hit-and-run incident in Mumbai that claimed a woman’s life and sparked widespread controversy

In Mumbai’s bustling Worli area, tragedy struck on a Sunday morning when a speeding BMW, allegedly driven by Mihir Shah, collided with a two-wheeler carrying Kaveri and Pradip Nakhva. The impact of the collision proved fatal for Kaveri, a 45-year-old woman who succumbed to her injuries while being rushed to the hospital. Her husband, Pradip, managed to escape with injuries after being thrown from their scooter onto the car’s bonnet.

Mihir Shah, aged 24, is the son of Rajesh Shah, a prominent Shiv Sena leader in Maharashtra’s Palghar district. His involvement in this incident has raised significant public outcry and legal scrutiny. Reports suggest that Mihir, allegedly intoxicated after a night of drinking in Juhu, instructed his driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, to take him on a late-night drive. Sometime during the early hours of the morning, Mihir took over the wheel himself, driving from Juhu to Worli.

Eyewitnesses and police reports indicate that around 5:30 am, Mihir’s BMW struck the rear of the Nakhvas’ scooter. The impact was severe, with Kaveri being dragged nearly 100 meters before her body was dislodged from the vehicle. Despite the gravity of the situation, Mihir reportedly attempted to evade responsibility by removing identifying marks from his car, including a Shiv Sena sticker and the number plate. He abandoned the vehicle in Bandra Kalanagar and fled the scene, prompting a widespread search effort by Mumbai police.

Following the incident, Mihir allegedly contacted his father, Rajesh Shah, to inform him of the crash before disconnecting his phone. The subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Rajesh Shah and his driver, Rajendra Singh Bijawat, on charges of obstructing justice and failing to cooperate with law enforcement.

The legal ramifications have been swift and severe. Worli police have filed charges against Mihir Shah for rash driving, culpable homicide not amounting to murder, endangering life, and violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. A manhunt involving multiple police teams is currently underway to locate and apprehend Mihir Shah.
