Being the child of Wayne and Coleen Rooney probably makes questions about fame fairly normal.

But when Klay Rooney was asked to settle a potentially dangerous family debate, he didn’t exactly struggle to pick a side.

The 13-year-old appears alongside his parents and brothers in the upcoming Disney+ documentary series The Real Rooneys, which promises a behind-the-scenes look at one of Britain’s most famous families.

And the newly released trailer suggests viewers can expect plenty of honesty from the Rooney boys.

Klay Rooney doesn’t hold back when asked who’s more famous

During one moment in the trailer, an off-camera producer asks Klay a simple question: who is more famous, his mum or his dad?

His answer is Wayne.

But Klay doesn’t stop there.

He goes on to joke that his mum is only known because of his dad.

The Real Rooneys promises plenty of family chaos

Klay’s comment is far from the only candid moment teased in the first full trailer.

Wayne, who has stepped away from football management, is shown adjusting to a very different routine involving family life and school runs.

At one point, he describes the house as chaotic and jokingly questions why they had children in the first place.

Anyone wondering whether another Rooney baby could eventually join the family also gets a fairly decisive answer.

When the prospect of having more children comes up, Wayne makes it clear that he and Coleen aren’t planning to add another member to the household.

But the trailer suggests the series won’t be entirely played for laughs.

Coleen Rooney admits juggling everything has been difficult

Coleen is seen becoming emotional while discussing the pressure of balancing family life with her increasingly busy career.

Her opportunities have expanded following the high-profile Wagatha Christie court case and her appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

The documentary follows her as she works on new projects, including designing her own Primark range.

At home, however, the trailer shows another side of life.

Coleen admits that juggling everything has been difficult and says there are times when the mood inside the house isn’t happy.

According to Disney’s official announcement, the cameras follow the family during what it describes as a pivotal year in their lives.

That means viewers won’t just see their Cheshire home.

The series follows the Rooneys through family holidays and celebrations, including trips to Barbados, Disneyland Paris and the Alps, alongside Coleen’s career moves, Wayne’s changing role and the everyday challenge of raising four boys.

Disney says the programme will also feature personal revelations and major family and career moments.

Coleen makes clear in the trailer that viewers are going to see a side of the Rooney family that hasn’t previously been shown publicly.

Judging by Klay’s willingness to answer awkward questions about his parents before the programme has even started, keeping much hidden from the cameras might prove difficult.

When is The Real Rooneys released?

The Real Rooneys premieres on Disney+ on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

The documentary contains 10 episodes.

Disney has confirmed that episodes one to eight will be available from September 24, before two special episodes arrive on October 1.

That gives viewers eight episodes to discover just how honest the Rooney household really is.

And if Klay’s verdict on his parents’ fame is anything to go by, the family’s youngest generation may provide some of the show’s most entertaining moments.
