Energy Networks Association’s Head of Innovation highlights sustainable energy projects and collaboration strategies at the London EV Show innovation event
Dan Clarke, Head of Innovation at the Energy Networks Association (ENA), took centre stage at the London EV Show to spotlight the transformative role of energy innovation in achieving the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. Clarke’s keynote presentation underscored the importance of collaboration across the energy and transport sectors to build a sustainable future.
Speaking to an audience of industry leaders, policymakers, and technology pioneers, Clarke detailed how ENA’s initiatives are driving progress in the rapidly evolving electric vehicle (EV) landscape. “We’re at a pivotal moment,” Clarke stated. “The transition to low-carbon technologies isn’t just an opportunity; it’s a necessity. By combining our collective expertise, we can address challenges and seize opportunities to reshape the future.”
At the heart of Clarke’s discussion were ENA’s flagship projects. ENA Connect Direct, a tool streamlining collaboration across energy networks, is revolutionising how technical challenges are addressed. It ensures that innovative solutions are developed efficiently to support the UK’s growing demand for EV infrastructure. Additionally, Clarke introduced the Basecamp pipeline, a platform fostering the development of forward-thinking projects aimed at overcoming barriers to electrification.

Clarke also addressed the broader implications of the UK’s EV transition, emphasising the need for robust connections between energy providers, policymakers, and consumers. He called for heightened collaboration with Ofgem and government bodies to create regulatory frameworks that support innovation while ensuring equitable access to clean energy solutions.
With extensive experience spanning energy, sustainable transport, aviation, and environmental monitoring, Clarke’s insights carried weight. His holistic approach blends technical expertise with a clear vision for digitalisation and low-carbon advancements, ensuring that the UK remains a global leader in clean energy.
The London EV Show provided the perfect stage for Clarke’s message. As EV adoption accelerates, the demand for efficient, sustainable energy systems is becoming increasingly urgent. Clarke’s work at ENA demonstrates that innovation is not just about new technologies; it’s about building systems and relationships that empower progress.
“Net Zero isn’t a far-off goal,” Clarke concluded. “It’s a challenge we must meet today. By working together, we can create a future that benefits everyone.”
