Arrested a short distance from the crime scene, the man, reportedly in his 30s, was apprehended by detectives. Meanwhile, the victim, a naturalised citizen born outside Ireland, was urgently transported to University Hospital Kerry. She is receiving treatment for her serious, albeit non-life-threatening injuries.

The local community is in shock as the Gardaí continue their investigation, trying to determine if there was any prior connection between the victim and her attacker. The crime scene on Maine Street remains under close examination, with Gardaí appealing for any information related to the incident.

This attack has prompted a wave of concern across Tralee, highlighting the need for increased vigilance and community support to prevent such atrocious acts and ensure the safety of all residents.
