Blaize Pearman, sibling of former Disney star, succumbs to devastating cancer battle
In a heartbreaking announcement, Raven-Symoné, renowned for her role in ‘That’s So Raven,’ shared the somber news of her younger brother, Blaize Pearman’s passing at the age of 31. The former Disney star conveyed the devastating impact of his two-year battle with colon cancer through an emotional Instagram video today (December 11).
Expressing gratitude for the outpouring of birthday wishes for herself on December 10, Symoné acknowledged the bittersweet nature of the day, saying, “Thank you for all the love yesterday. It was felt beyond. Hard to fully celebrate knowing that I’m here and he is not.”
Blaize, who largely stayed out of the public eye in comparison to his famous sister, made an appearance alongside Raven-Symoné on Steve Harvey’s Celebrity Family Feud in 2008. The actor revealed that her brother’s battle with cancer had been a poignant inspiration for an episode of ‘Raven’s Home’ in 2021, addressing racial profiling.
Symoné shared a personal connection to the storyline, explaining, “I relate to that. I remember my mom drilling my brother when he first got his license on the things that he had to be careful of. He’s tall, he’s Black. He wears a hoodie and jeans and maybe a jersey or a skully. And it’s like, ‘Take your hat off. Put your hands on the wheel. Yes, sir. Yes, ma’am. Respectful. And don’t question anything.'”
Condolences have been pouring in from fans and fellow celebrities, with Cheetah Girls star Kiely Williams offering heartfelt words, “I am so sorry. There are no words that can ease this kind of pain, but I hope you can find moments of peace and comfort in the weeks and months ahead. You and your family are in my prayers.”
As Raven-Symoné navigates this challenging time, an overwhelming wave of support and sympathy has enveloped her, with well-wishers expressing their deepest condolences and sharing in the grief of the Pearman family.
