Tamika Catchings named Grand Marshal for 2024 AES 500 Festival Parade

Celebrated WNBA veteran to lead Indianapolis parade, emphasizing community and youth empowerment

Indianapolis has chosen Tamika Catchings, the renowned former Indiana Fever star and community leader, as the Grand Marshal for the 2024 AES 500 Festival Parade. Catchings, who retired from the WNBA as its second all-time leading scorer, continues to inspire through her substantial contributions to youth and community development.

Catchings’ illustrious career spanned 16 seasons with the Indiana Fever, during which she earned ten WNBA All-Star selections and secured four Olympic gold medals. Her championship victory with the Fever remains a highlight of her career. Following her retirement, Catchings didn’t step back from the limelight but instead shifted her focus towards her passion for youth empowerment through her Catch the Stars Foundation. The foundation is dedicated to fostering fitness, literacy, and personal development among young people.

The AES 500 Festival Parade is a cornerstone event in Indianapolis, celebrating the city’s rich cultural and sports heritage. This year, the parade is set to begin at noon on May 25, with tickets available now at the official Festival website.
