Steve Bennett, once an overweight CEO, revolutionised his health by shifting his approach to food and exercise, achieving weight loss and newfound vitality
Steve Bennett, 58, a former CEO, made a life-changing decision after realising his unhealthy lifestyle was leading him towards an early death. Having spent decades focused on growing his jewellery business, he noticed the pounds slowly adding up. By his 30s, Bennett was 14 stone, and by 40, he was struggling with chest pains and fatigue. His doctor prescribed a low-fat diet, but it did little to shift the weight.
The turning point came during a trip to Kenya, where Bennett learned a valuable lesson from his Masai friend, Philip. After trimming fat off a goat meal, Philip asked him why he was working hard to get fit, yet still trying to achieve a “lean, warrior-like physique” by cutting fat from food. It struck a chord, and upon returning home, Bennett was motivated to change his lifestyle.

He abandoned the low-fat diet and embraced fibre-focused meals, beginning his day with vegetables, eggs, and bacon. By prioritising sleep over early morning workouts, he focused on what he ate, reducing processed foods, refined carbs, and sugars.
The results were immediate: within the first month, Bennett lost nearly a stone. His energy levels soared, and his wife, Sarah, noticed improvements, including no more snoring. Bennett’s transformation gave him a new outlook on life—he fantasises about being 90, kite-surfing with his great-grandchildren.
Bennett’s story proves that, sometimes, less is more, and a thoughtful shift in diet and routine can lead to profound health benefits.
