A Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris was hospitalized following unusual behaviour at a military base, prompting a full investigation.
A Secret Service agent tasked with protecting Vice President Kamala Harris was hospitalized after exhibiting disturbing behaviour at Joint Base Andrews on Monday morning. The incident occurred while Vice President Harris was not present at the location.
According to the U.S. Secret Service, the incident unfolded around 9 a.m. when the agent began showing behaviour that concerned colleagues. Immediate steps were taken to remove the agent from duty, and medical personnel were quickly brought in to address the situation.

This happened approximately one hour before Vice President Harris was scheduled to arrive at the airbase for her flight to Wisconsin.
The situation escalated quickly, resulting in the agent being handcuffed and detained by other members of the Secret Service. Emergency services were called to the scene, and the agent was subsequently taken to a hospital for further evaluation. Initial assessments indicated that there was no substance use involved.
Currently, the Secret Service has put a hold on further decisions regarding the agent’s future with the agency until more information is available from medical evaluations. An internal review is planned, and the agency will determine if there is a need to revoke the agent’s top secret security clearance for either medical or disciplinary reasons.
Authorities are treating this incident as a medical matter rather than a disciplinary issue, in light of the clear mental health challenges displayed by the agent. The agency’s response underscores the importance of addressing mental health within law enforcement agencies seriously and sensitively.
The incident did not affect Vice President Harris’s schedule, as confirmed by the Secret Service. She continued with her planned travel without any security compromises
