Tragedy strikes as rapper Wyless Man’s dogs kill grandmother amid controversy over breed regulations

In a horrifying incident near Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, rapper Ashley Warren, known by his stage name Wyless Man, has been arrested after his two “unregistered XL Bullies” fatally mauled his mother-in-law, Esther Martin, 68. The shocking attack occurred as Esther was babysitting her grandson over the weekend. The rapper’s dogs attacked her when she attempted to shoo their six puppies with a broom, resulting in a gruesome and tragic scene.

The police responded to the incident on Hillman Avenue in Jaywick, Essex, shortly after 4 pm on Saturday. Heroic neighbours attempted to intervene, using shovels to break into the house, but unfortunately, it was too late. Esther Martin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Adding to the tragedy is a reported outburst by Ashley Warren when new laws regarding the aggressive breed were introduced. According to claims, Warren, boasting the stage name Wyless Man, defiantly stated, “Don’t tell me what to do with my f***ing dogs.” This statement allegedly occurred when regulations for the breed were outlined following a series of fatal attacks involving XL Bullies.

Esther’s grandson, who witnessed the horrific incident, ran into the street to raise the alarm as his grandmother screamed for help. Despite the efforts of neighbours to rescue her, Esther Martin succumbed to the injuries sustained during the attack.

Police swiftly arrested 39-year-old Warren in connection with the tragedy. Tests were conducted on the dogs, Bear and Beauty, at Warren’s home to confirm their breed as XL Bullies. The dogs were subsequently destroyed.

Esther’s grieving family left flowers at the scene, claiming that Warren opposed the new rules and asserted, “Don’t tell me what to do with my own f***ing dogs.” The victim’s son, Paul, revealed that Warren left Esther alone with six XL Bully puppies and two adult dogs while he was out.

Concerns had reportedly been raised about Warren’s dogs with the local authority prior to the incident. Some locals described the dogs as “proper aggressive,” with one individual stating he avoided the house because the dogs were always barking and attempting to attack.

The incident comes in the wake of new regulations regarding XL Bullies, making it illegal to own them without a certificate in England and Wales. Owners must have the dogs muzzled and on a lead in public, and to qualify for an exemption certificate, they must prove their dog’s neutering status.

Essex Police’s Chief Supt Glen Pavelin commended the officers’ bravery and professionalism during a press conference. He thanked local individuals who attempted to help Esther Martin and assured the community that there is no ongoing threat.

This tragic incident raises concerns about the responsibility of dog owners, the enforcement of breed regulations, and the safety of communities in the face of aggressive breeds.
