Duke of Sussex’s Emotional Conversation Unveiled Following Frogmore Cottage Eviction

In a poignant revelation, the aftermath of Prince Harry’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage has come to light, with the Duke of Sussex reportedly uttering seven heartbreaking words to his father, King Charles. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan Markle, relinquished their hold on the four-bedroom property in Windsor after relocating to California in 2020. The decision to vacate came just days after the release of Harry’s memoir, “Spare,” and a request from King Charles.

Omid Scobie, in his controversial book “Endgame,” disclosed the emotional exchange between Prince Harry and King Charles. According to Scobie, Harry, upon receiving the request to move out, asked his father a poignant question: “Don’t you want to see your grandchildren?” This seven-word plea reflects the emotional strain and complexities within the royal family.

Reportedly, King Charles responded with a “half-hearted declaration” that the couple would always have “somewhere” to stay. The book also claimed that Princess Anne supported the Palace’s decision to make Harry and Meghan vacate the property.

Frogmore Cottage, initially gifted to the couple in 2018 as a wedding present from the late Queen Elizabeth II, had been their residence until they relocated. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex spent approximately £2.4 million on renovations, with the property having five bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room, and a nursery designed for their son, Archie.

The couple received news of their eviction through a letter from Sir Michael John Stevens, the Keeper of the Privy Purse. The letter emphasized that Frogmore Cottage should be returned as they were no longer working royals and were residing abroad. Despite the financial assistance they received for renovations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reimbursed the Sovereign Grant, leaving the Crown with an enhanced asset.

The Frogmore Cottage, a symbolic location for Harry and Meghan, was transformed into a single residence in 2019, consolidating five separate properties for Windsor Estate staff.

This revelation offers a glimpse into the emotional dynamics surrounding the Sussexes’ departure from Frogmore Cottage and sheds light on the complexities within the royal family, as the Duke of Sussex grapples with the desire for family connections despite geographical distances.
