Gunman, identified as David Kozak, suspected in previous killing, unleashes deadly rampage at university

In a shocking revelation, Czech police have confirmed that the gunman responsible for the tragic shooting at a Prague university, claiming 13 lives and injuring 25 others, had also committed a double murder just days prior. Identified as 24-year-old David Kozak, the shooter was suspected of randomly attacking a 32-year-old father and his two-month-old daughter in a forest near the Czech capital.

The bodies of the father and baby were discovered in a woodland area 11 miles east of Prague on December 15. The Interior Minister stated that there is “maximum probability” that Kozak is responsible for this double murder, and police have now linked him to the crime, citing evidence found at his property. The weapon used to shoot the father and daughter was reportedly recovered from Kozak’s possessions.

In addition to the forest incident, Kozak is believed to have killed his own father at their family home in a village near Kladno, located outside of Prague. The recent mass shooting occurred at the Faculty of Arts, where 13 people lost their lives, and another victim succumbed to injuries in the hospital. The toll may rise as authorities continue to assess the situation.

The shooter, armed and heavily equipped, took his own life on the balcony of the university building as law enforcement closed in. Although police have not released the gunman’s motive, they emphasized that no extremist ideology or group affiliation is suspected. Kozak, who legally owned several firearms, had no criminal record, and authorities believe he acted alone during the attacks.

As the nation grapples with the aftermath of its worst mass shooting, political leaders, students, and the community gathered for an impromptu vigil to pay respects to the victims. The Czech government declared a national day of mourning, reflecting the gravity of the situation and the need for solidarity in the face of tragedy.

While the investigation unfolds, questions linger about the motives and factors that led to this unprecedented act of violence, leaving the community in shock and mourning the loss of innocent lives. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
