Sony responds to user demands with new console feature

In a much-anticipated move, Sony has announced a new update for the PlayStation 5 console, addressing a long-standing complaint from users regarding the device’s bright light bar. Since its launch, gamers have found the light bar, which indicates the console’s status, to be excessively bright, especially when using the console for activities like streaming TV shows.

The update, which is currently available to beta testers and is expected to roll out to all users soon, introduces a new setting that allows users to adjust the brightness of the light bar. This setting will offer three options: dim, medium, and bright, with the default setting being bright.

The introduction of this feature comes as a relief to many users who have resorted to creative solutions, such as attaching adhesive strips to block the light, to mitigate the issue. The update also includes a setting to control the volume of the console’s startup beep, providing users with more customization options for their gaming experience.

Sony’s response to user feedback highlights the company’s commitment to improving the PlayStation 5’s functionality and user experience. The update is expected to be warmly welcomed by PlayStation 5 owners, who have eagerly awaited a solution to this irritating problem.
