Meghan could return to acting after moving back to the UK, though no role is confirmed
Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, could make a return to acting after moving back to the UK, according to reports.
Sources close to the Sussexes have not denied claims that Meghan has been offered an acting role in Britain. However, no details have been confirmed about any project, character or production.
The Meghan acting comeback speculation comes as she and Prince Harry prepare to return to the UK with their children before the end of August.
Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are expected to start school in September, while the family are reportedly planning to live in a private, non-royal residence outside London.
Meghan was best known as an actress for her role as Rachel Zane in the US legal drama Suits. She appeared in the series for seven seasons before her final episode aired in 2018.
After marrying Prince Harry, Meghan put her acting career on hold. At the time, she said she did not see leaving acting as giving something up, but as starting a new chapter.
That chapter may now be changing again.
Meghan has already made a limited return to screen work, appearing as herself in the upcoming comedy Close Personal Friends, which stars Lily Collins and Brie Larson. It was her first acting appearance in nearly a decade.

A fuller return to acting could be a major commercial opportunity for the duchess, especially if she is based in the UK and able to take on projects there.
The BBC understands that Meghan also hopes to expand the global reach of her lifestyle and cooking brand, As Ever, while living in Britain.
The reports come at a sensitive time for the Sussexes. Their move back to the UK has already raised questions about security, family relations and whether their return could change their position within royal life.
For now, there are no current plans for either Harry or Meghan to resume duties as working royals.
Their return follows a visit in July when Harry, Meghan and their children saw King Charles at Highgrove in Gloucestershire. It was the first time the King had seen Archie and Lilibet in person for more than four years.
It was also the couple’s first visit to the UK together since 2022.
The King was reportedly not told about the move before last weekend, but he is said to welcome the chance to see more of the Sussex family privately and personally.
Meghan’s possible acting return would mark another shift in the couple’s post-royal life. Since stepping back from royal duties, they have built a public profile through media projects, interviews, documentaries and business ventures.
But acting is the career Meghan had before royal life, and any return would attract huge attention.
Still, the key point is that nothing has been formally announced. No production has been named, no contract has been confirmed, and the Sussexes have not publicly said that Meghan is returning to acting.
That makes the story one of possibility rather than certainty.
For supporters, the idea of Meghan returning to screen work may feel like a natural step back into a career she once left behind. For critics, it will add another layer to the debate over the Sussexes’ move back to Britain.
Either way, if Meghan does take on a new acting role in the UK, it would be one of the most closely watched entertainment and royal stories of the year.
