Five enormous space rocks approach our blue marble, none on collision course, says NASA

This week, five colossal asteroids are hurtling toward Earth, NASA has confirmed, creating a cosmic spectacle in the celestial theater. Despite the impressive size of these space rocks, there is no need for panic, as NASA’s Asteroid Watch department assures us that none of them pose a threat of collision with our planet.
The first in the cosmic lineup is asteroid 2007 EG, set to pass by on January 30. Approximately the size of an airplane, measuring 130 feet, this celestial traveler will maintain a safe distance, missing Earth by 3.8 million miles.
Following suit is asteroid 2024 BY, akin in size to a house at 62 feet. Scheduled for a flyby on February 1, this asteroid will maintain a safe distance of 1.57 million miles from Earth.
On the same day, January 30, asteroid 2003 BM4, measuring around 120 feet and resembling the size of an airplane, is projected to pass by at a comfortable distance of just over 2 million miles.
The giant of the group, asteroid 2008 OS7, boasting an impressive size comparable to a football stadium at 890 feet, is scheduled for a flyby on February 2. With a margin of safety, it will miss Earth by 1.7 million miles.
Completing the cosmic ensemble is asteroid 2024 BP1, estimating around 130 feet in size, mirroring the dimensions of an airplane. This space wanderer is set for a flyby on February 2, passing Earth at a safe distance of 2.1 million miles.
While the magnitude of these asteroids may sound alarming, NASA’s assurance is grounded in the fact that none of them will make contact with Earth. The Asteroid Watch department provides detailed tracking of these celestial bodies, with all five expected to pass within 4.6 million miles of our planet.

It’s important to note that any object larger than approximately 150 meters that approaches Earth within this distance is categorized as a potentially hazardous object. However, these asteroids are comfortably distant from our planet, with the average gap between Earth and the moon standing at around 239,000 miles.
