All around the world, there have been many actresses and actors whose names have been associated with gangsters and people of the underworld. Most of these have been rumours and not confirmed, but they have still made a lot of headlines for their association. One such Hollywood actress whose name was often found making headlines was none other than Lana Turner. The actress was quite popular from the 1940s to the 1960s and was among the highest-paid actresses as well. However, throughout her career, she had to face a lot of troubles in her personal life, which eventually affected her career as well. So, let’s take a look at the journey of Lana Turner.

Lana Turner was born Julia, who changed her name to be part of the acting industry. The actress began her career in films as a teenager in 1937 with the film They Won’t Forget. In 1946, she was a part of the superhit film The Postman Always Rings Twice and established herself as a glam diva in Hollywood. While the actress was achieving success in her career, her personal life was deeply suffering. By the time she turned 35, she had seen four failed marriages. Her divorce from her fourth husband, Lex Barker, was finalized in 1957.

After four failed marriages, the actress found love and was in a relationship with gangster Johnny Stompanato. After dating for many months, she was again in the media. In 1958, Lana found herself in the middle of a controversy when her 14-year-old daughter, Cheryl Crane, from her second marriage, stabbed Johnny Stompanato to death. As per reports, this started when Lana came back from the Oscars and was a victim of physical assault by Johnny. Later, the two again had an argument where Lana’s daughter heard Johnny threatening to kill her mother. This triggered the young girl, and she stabbed Johnny Stompanato to death.

After the whole controversy, Lana was still a part of many popular films like Imitation Life and Madame X, which made her among the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood. But her career started declining after that. Talking about her personal life, she was married three more times between 1960 and 1972, with her final and seventh divorce taking place when she was 51. Sadly, the actress passed away in 1995 at the age of 74 due to cancer.
