Ian Ellerington, a seasoned expert in energy innovation and technology transfer, is slated to deliver a keynote address at the upcoming London EV Show. As the Technology Transfer Director at the Faraday Institution, Ellerington brings a wealth of knowledge from both the public and private sectors, focusing on the intersection of research, technology, and sustainable energy solutions. At the London EV Show, the Faraday Institution will showcase its latest advancements in energy innovation and electric vehicle technology.

Ellerington’s impressive career spans over three decades, starting with an M.Eng. in Manufacturing Engineering from the prestigious University of Cambridge in 1993. His early professional journey saw him involved in gas turbine engines at the Ministry of Defence, followed by a project management role at QinetiQ, where he led research initiatives and managed large-scale test programmes.

In his current role at the Faraday Institution, Ian drives the transfer of cutting-edge energy research into real-world applications, working closely with industry and academia to accelerate advancements in battery technology. Prior to joining the Faraday Institution, Ellerington spent six years shaping UK government policies in the energy sector. As the Head of Disruptive Energy Technologies and Green Finance Innovation at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, he was instrumental in launching innovation programmes designed to support the UK’s green energy transition.

At the London EV Show, Ellerington is expected to provide valuable insights on the future of battery technology, green finance, and the role of disruptive energy innovations in achieving net-zero targets. His talk will cover the Faraday Institution’s latest research initiatives, including advancements in solid-state batteries and energy storage solutions critical for the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs).
