Dec Donnelly surprises locals with epic New Year’s Eve performance of Billy Joel hit at his neighborhood pub: On the decks!

Dec Donnelly made a sensational start to the New Year, treating fellow New Year’s Eve revellers to a surprise performance of Billy Joel’s iconic “Piano Man” at a local pub in Newcastle. The 48-year-old star from “I’m a Celeb” wowed the crowd as they welcomed 2024.

Decked out in a blue shirt, Dec took centre stage at The Badger, an upscale spot in Ponteland, Northumberland. Teaming up with the local band The Optics, he led an impromptu rendition of the beloved 1973 ballad. The pub erupted in cheers as Dec, armed with his phone for lyrical cues, crooned the familiar lines: “Now John at the bar is a friend of mine…He gets me my drinks for free…”

Videos captured the TV personality’s impromptu performance, which had the crowd joining in and toasting to the night. “It was unexpected to see Dec belting out tunes, but it was amazing,” shared one amazed pub-goer. “He’s just as charming and genuine as he appears on TV.”

The festivities didn’t stop there. Dec extended the celebration, inviting locals to continue the party at his mum Annie’s nearby home. Despite his soaring career success, Dec’s heart remains tied to his roots. He grew up in a modest three-bedroom council house, where he recently posed for selfies in the kitchen with lucky attendees.

Known for his warmth and down-to-earth demeanour, Dec’s New Year’s Eve bash mirrored his family-oriented values. After wrapping up his stint in Australia filming “I’m A Celebrity” alongside Ant, he relished a festive season at home surrounded by loved ones. It seems the New Year kicked off on a high note for this beloved TV personality!
