Prime Minister accuses the ruling party and Congress of political opportunism and corruption, promising protection of reservation rights

During a high-octane rally in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) party, led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accusing it of compromising the state’s identity and culture for political gain. Modi condemned the JMM for its alleged “vote bank politics,” stating that it was serving the people “jhooth ki jalebi” (a false narrative), and claimed that the coalition was insensitive to the welfare of its citizens.

Modi did not shy away from criticizing the Congress party, accusing it of attempts to undermine reservations for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC). “I assure you, no one can do it,” he proclaimed, reaffirming his commitment to protecting these rights during his address at the Parivartan Mahasabha rally.

The Prime Minister referenced a recent tragic incident during a recruitment drive for excise constables, where several aspirants reportedly lost their lives. He pointed fingers at the JMM-led coalition, alleging that their negligence contributed to these deaths. “The coalition is insensitive and has caused the deaths of aspirants,” he stated, calling for accountability.

In a broader indictment of the JMM’s governance, Modi claimed that the party was engaged in widespread corruption, particularly in a “transfer-posting industry” that he said had flourished in the state. “Thousands of transfers have taken place in the last two weeks, and JMM has made crores of rupees on the pretext of this,” he asserted. Modi vowed that the BJP would change the political landscape in Jharkhand, ensuring that all funds misappropriated by the current government would be accounted for.

Emphasizing the stark contrast between the central government’s development initiatives and the state government’s alleged regression, Modi declared, “Every single person in Jharkhand knows that the biggest roadblock to development is the Congress-JMM-RJD alliance.” He criticized the state government for hindering progress while the BJP worked diligently for the welfare of Jharkhand.

Modi ended his speech with a rallying cry for change, asserting that the time had come to “throw such forces out” to safeguard the state’s foundational values of “mati, beti, roti” (land, daughter, bread). He promised that under a BJP government, the security of reservations would be ensured, emphasizing that “reservation is safe only because of the BJP.”

As Jharkhand approaches a pivotal political season, Modi’s remarks reflect a broader strategy to galvanize support against the JMM and Congress, positioning the BJP as the protector of the state’s cultural and social fabric.
