Fashion is like a mirror of the world we live in, it keeps changing with the world. It adapts to social, cultural and technological shifts. Fashion shows us how we see ourselves and what exactly we value. It shows us the time we live in or even what times our mind or heart is in. You can either evolve your fashion with the time or you can just stay classic.

The Victorian era, which was famous for its tight corset tops and precise designs. Women’s fashion was inspired by Queen Victoria’s fashion and were totally into it while men’s fashion was more into “gentlemen” style.  In the 1920s, the Art Deco movement introduced more simpler, modern and geometrical shapes in fashion. This period was known for the “flapper girl,” a symbol of women’s freedom and shifting social rules.

The mid-century gave us two big fashion moments, the 1950s which was known for its feminine, hourglass shapes. In the 1950s post-war charefullness or optimism shaped fashion with style icons like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn bossing the way. In the 1960s, however, there was a change in social culture and there was a rise in the hippie movement. Hippies were into a different fashion style such as bohemian looks, vibrant colours with flowy patterns.

The 1970s were all about trying and experimenting new styles. The discord era, which was a whole new experience of style, it was all about shiny and glamorous looks, bell bottom pants, platform shoes and disco balls became iconic symbols. Then at the same time, punk movement came into motion and people were crazy about ripped jeans and leather jackets. These styles showed the bold and eclectic spirit of the era.

The 1980s were about boldness and luxury, bright neon colours, power suits and padded shoulders. The 1990s were about street style looks, more casual and relaxed looks inspired by alternative rock bands, marking an alternative shift from flashy to more casual looks.

In the 21st century, vintage trends have made a comeback and fast fashion has become popular offering trending and affordable clothes but it has a greater impact on the environment, people are more concerned about sustainability and labour practices. As a result, more people are looking for clothing that is more eco-friendly and ethically made while slaying with sleek and aesthetic looks.
