Suspected vehicle thief leads LAPD on dramatic freeway pursuit before capture

In a heart-stopping incident late Thursday night, Los Angeles Police Department officers engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a driver in a stolen white Kia on the city’s freeways. The chase, which reached speeds of approximately 90 miles per hour, resulted in the suspect crashing into another vehicle on the northbound 405 Freeway yet continuing the escape attempt.

The pursuit took a dramatic turn as the driver transitioned onto the northbound 101 Freeway, then onto surface streets, before re-entering the freeway system. The suspect’s desperate attempts to evade capture led to a loss of control on the southbound 405 Freeway, culminating in a collision with a sound wall and the centre divider near Wilshire Boulevard.
