Internet erupts as Tesla unveils robot with a flair for domestic duties

In true Elon Musk fashion, the maverick entrepreneur has once again set tongues wagging with his latest creation – Optimus Gen 2, the Tesla robot that’s not just a pretty face.

Musk, the man behind the curtain of Twitter (formerly known as X), recently showcased his new line of Tesla robots, sparking a virtual storm of opinions across the internet. This time, the spotlight is on Optimus Gen 2, designed to perform an array of tasks and engage seamlessly with humans.

Weighing in at a slender 121 lbs and standing at an imposing 5 feet 11 inches, Optimus Gen 2 is hailed to be lighter, faster, and smoother than its predecessor. Tesla envisions these robots as ‘general purpose, bi-pedal, autonomous humanoid robots’ capable of tackling mundane and potentially hazardous tasks.

The robot’s 35 degrees of freedom allow it to move its joints with a human-like fluidity, making it not only efficient but eerily human in appearance. Equipped with new hands, feet, neck, and body, these robots are ready to make their mark in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and even entertainment.

Elon Musk took to Twitter (formerly known as X) on Monday to share a video of Optimus Gen 2 in action, expertly folding clothes with precision. The innovative hands, boasting 11 degrees of freedom, tactile sensors, and faster actuators, promise a level of precision that surpasses its predecessor.

As the video made its rounds on the internet, reactions were as varied as a British summer. Some hailed the robot as a game-changer, expressing enthusiasm for a future where household chores could be delegated to robotic helpers. One user gushed, “The future is coming, and it’s coming fast!”

Conversely, not everyone was ready to welcome the new mechanical member of the household. Some expressed genuine terror at the prospect of a world filled with these humanoid helpers. A skeptic commented, “Genuinely terrifying. Why are you building these?”

Addressing concerns, Musk clarified in the comments, “Important note: Optimus cannot yet do this autonomously, but certainly will be able to do this fully autonomously and in an arbitrary environment.”

As the debate rages on, one thing is certain – Elon Musk’s technological wizardry continues to keep the British public on the edge of their seats, wondering what marvel he’ll unveil next. The question remains: Is Optimus Gen 2 a domestic superhero, or have we just invited a potentially terrifying houseguest into our lives?
