In a deja vu moment, Elon Musk revisited the infamous Cybertruck window stunt during an event in Texas on Thursday. The attempt aimed to rectify the embarrassment of the 2019 launch, where Tesla’s chief designer, Franz von Holshausen, inadvertently shattered the so-called ‘shatterproof’ windows during a live demo.

The Cybertruck, introduced by Musk in 2019, boasts a unique design blending truck utility with sports car performance. The vehicle is marketed as ‘durable, versatile, capable, and high-performance.’ Musk, confident in the truck’s toughness, challenged von Holshausen to test the ‘shatterproof’ glass by throwing a steel ball at it during the initial launch.

The result? Two broken windows and an awkward moment for Musk. However, the Tesla founder was quick to assure the audience that the glass’s failure was merely a glitch and promised to fix it in post-production.

Fast forward to the recent event in Texas, and Musk, accompanied by von Holshausen, attempted the same stunt. This time, the glass held strong as it successfully resisted the impact of a baseball thrown at it. While not an exact replication of the 2019 incident, the successful redemption brought relief to Musk, who expressed satisfaction, stating, “I think we could probably have a pro pitcher lob it at it, it would still work. The glass is tough is what we are saying.”

The 2019 stunt had significant financial repercussions for Musk, with Forbes reporting a $768 million drop in his net worth in a single day as Tesla’s share price plummeted by six percent. Musk, however, addressed the setback humorously on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Franz throws steel ball at Cybertruck window right before launch. Guess we have some improvements to make before production haha.”

As Tesla enthusiasts witnessed Musk’s quest for redemption, the successful stunt marked a symbolic victory for the Cybertruck’s resilient glass and the innovative vision behind Tesla’s groundbreaking designs.

  1. Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell
and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
