Lady Gaga joins her Wednesday co-stars onstage for a live ‘dead dance’ at Mayhem Ball

Lady Gaga brought Netflix’s gothic hit Wednesday to life in spectacular fashion during the opening night of her Mayhem Ball tour, uniting with Emma Myers and Evie Templeton to perform “The Dead Dance” in front of a roaring London crowd.

The first of eight shows, held at the O2 Arena, saw Gaga surprise fans by reprising her Wednesday cameo with her younger co-stars. Myers and Templeton, who play Enid Sinclair and Agnes DeMille in the series, joined the star on stage to recreate the now-famous choreography from the show’s second season.

“The Dead Dance,” written by Gaga specifically for Wednesday, became a viral sensation after its on-screen debut. The trio performed the original routine — complete with Thing-inspired hand gestures and gothic twirls — sending fans into a frenzy. Matching black gowns gave the appearance of three characters striding straight out of Nevermore Academy.

Videos posted by Gaga on Instagram and TikTok captured the moment. One clip showed her strutting down the catwalk between Myers and Templeton, captioned: “Enid, Agnes and Rosaline snuck out of Nevermore for a night of The Dead Dance at The MAYHEM Ball.” She also shared rehearsal footage, giving fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse at how the routine came together.

The performance links directly back to Season 2 of Wednesday, where Gaga herself made a high-profile cameo. She appeared in Episode 6 as Rosaline Rotwood, an eccentric professor who guides Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams through a psychic ritual. Creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar have described the character as “crucial” to the season’s arc, hinting at a possible return for Gaga in future episodes.

In the series, “The Dead Dance” sequence occurs during a gala organised by Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday). Enid is scheduled to perform a solo routine but is unexpectedly joined by Agnes, creating a layered scene that doubles as both a showcase and a distraction in the unfolding plot. The actresses later revealed they filmed the dance to a click track because Gaga’s track hadn’t yet been finalised at the time of production.

Templeton and Myers told Deadline they had listened to the unreleased song a few times to get a feel for its rhythm before shooting. When Gaga’s final version dropped, fans immediately embraced it as one of the show’s most memorable musical moments.

For Gaga, integrating her Mayhem Ball tour with her Netflix appearance highlights her unmatched ability to merge pop spectacle with cultural phenomenon. With eight UK dates scheduled — including nights in Manchester’s Co-Op Live — the performance sets a high bar for what fans can expect from the rest of the tour.

The collaboration also underscores the cultural reach of Wednesday, which has evolved beyond being just a streaming hit into a touchstone of gothic style and pop music crossover. By bringing Myers and Templeton on stage, Gaga gave audiences not only a live concert experience but also a moment of television come to life.

Fans online have already crowned it one of the tour’s most iconic moments. And if Gaga’s history of blending music with theatrical storytelling is anything to go by, the Mayhem Ball has only just begun to unleash its surprises.
