South Wales police arrest two teens as family mourns ‘tragic’ death of 38-year-old Kamran Aman

A murder investigation is underway in the Vale of Glamorgan after a 38-year-old father was fatally stabbed late Monday night in Barry. Police have arrested two teenage boys on suspicion of murder following the violent attack, which left Kamran Aman dead at the scene.

Emergency services rushed to Barry Road just before midnight on July 1 after reports of a stabbing. Paramedics attempted to save the victim, but Aman was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

Scenes of crime officers in white forensic suits spent Tuesday scouring the street for evidence. South Wales Police confirmed an incident room has been established at Cardiff Central Police Station as detectives work to piece together the events that led to Aman’s death.

In a statement released Tuesday evening, the force identified the victim. “The man who died in Barry on Monday night has been named as 38-year-old Kamran Aman,” it read. “Father-of-one Kamran died, and a murder investigation was launched. His family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.”

Detective Superintendent Mark O’Shea, leading the investigation, described the incident as “tragic” and called for community support. “Extensive inquiries are continuing as we establish the events which took place on Monday night,” he said. “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Kamran Aman.”

He added, “Police cordons and road closures remain in place, and I’d like to thank the community for their support and understanding. We’re appealing to anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything to please come forward—even if they believe what they saw or heard was insignificant.”

Kamran Aman, described by neighbours as a “devoted father” and “quiet man who kept to himself,” leaves behind a young child. A photograph released by police shows Aman seated on a sofa in a navy T-shirt, a book resting in his hands, looking calm and content.

Residents on Barry Road and surrounding streets expressed shock at the news. One local said, “We heard sirens just before midnight, but never imagined it was something this awful. Kamran was a familiar face, always polite. I can’t believe this has happened.”

Throughout Tuesday, a police cordon sealed off the stretch of Barry Road where the stabbing occurred. Officers conducted door-to-door inquiries while forensic teams gathered evidence under spotlights into the night.

The identities of the two teenage suspects have not been released, but both remain in custody for questioning. Their exact ages and the nature of their connection to Aman, if any, have yet to be disclosed by police.

This latest incident adds to growing concern about youth violence and knife crime in Welsh communities. Local representatives have called for increased funding for prevention efforts, including youth outreach and education.

South Wales Police have urged anyone with dashcam, CCTV, or mobile footage from the area on Monday evening to come forward, emphasising that even the smallest detail could help investigators build a clearer picture of what transpired.

As the investigation intensifies, tributes have begun pouring in for Aman online. Friends and relatives have described him as a “gentle soul” and a “loving father” who did not deserve such a fate.

No further details about a potential motive have been released. The investigation remains active, with police expected to provide further updates as forensic and witness evidence is assessed.

For now, the community mourns a senseless death, and a young child is left without a father.
