Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom split after 7 years together and a long engagement without a wedding
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship after nearly a decade together, including six years of engagement. The couple, who share a four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, have confirmed the split is amicable but emotionally tough.
A source close to the pair revealed, “Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable. It’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The breakup has reportedly been a long time coming, with things between them “tense for months.” The distance created by Perry’s Lifetimes Tour, which began earlier this year, added further strain. During the tour, she has been renting out her Westcott Estate in Montecito, while Bloom has remained in their other Montecito property. Plans to make the Westcott home their family base have now been shelved.
The pair first got together in January 2016, following several sightings at Golden Globes afterparties. A brief split in March 2017 was followed by a reunion in February 2018. The two got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019, and Perry announced her pregnancy one year later. Their daughter was born in August 2020. Bloom also has a 14-year-old son, Flynn, from his previous marriage to model Miranda Kerr.

A second source explained, “They’ve grown apart and aren’t living the same lives anymore.” Those close to the couple were reportedly well aware of their relationship struggles.
Perry has remained focused on her music career, with the tour keeping her occupied and emotionally distracted. Meanwhile, Bloom has been spotted out more frequently without her, a shift that became increasingly noticeable during her time on the road.
The two have publicly acknowledged the challenges of maintaining a high-profile relationship. Perry once shared that they “continuously put in the work” to keep their romance alive. Bloom echoed similar sentiments, saying that juggling their “giant careers and lives” often felt overwhelming, but he tried to “walk her back to the sandpit” — a metaphor for grounding their love in simpler moments.
Despite the challenges, there’s no bitterness in the breakup. Both are prioritising their daughter and aiming to co-parent peacefully. Perry, 40, reportedly feels a sense of relief not to face another legal battle like her previous divorce from Russell Brand. Bloom, 48, who split from Kerr in 2013, has also experienced the difficulty of parting ways under public scrutiny.
Their story, once viewed as a beacon of celebrity romance, has quietly come to a close. But it ends not in scandal or spite — rather, in the shared understanding that their paths have diverged.
