Elegance in the rain: Celebs and royalty shine at Cheltenham despite the downpour
The opening day of the Cheltenham Festival might have been marked by relentless rain, but that didn’t stop race-goers from showcasing their fashion finesse, with Zara Tindall, the King’s niece, stealing the spotlight among the elegantly attired attendees. Despite the challenging weather, spirits were high as the 67,500-capacity course welcomed a mix of celebrities, sports legends, and racing enthusiasts.
Zara Tindall, 42, an accomplished equestrian in her own right, was seen enjoying the day’s events alongside her husband, Mike Tindall, 45. The couple’s cheerful demeanour and engaging interactions with friends highlighted the festival’s festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, boxing icon Ricky Hatton, 45, added a touch of class to the occasion, arriving in a sharp dark suit and sharing his love for the event’s famed Guinness Village.

On the track, jockey Rachael Blackmore, 34, delivered an early win aboard Slade Steel in the first race, delighting fans and punters alike with favourable odds of 7-2.
As race-goers ‘took the rains’ and navigated the soggy conditions, the blend of high fashion and high spirits underscored the unique charm of the Cheltenham Festival, demonstrating once again that a bit of British weather can’t dampen the enthusiasm of the horseracing world.
