Community and authorities rally to find Elijah Vue as investigation reveals child neglect charges

In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Two Rivers, Wisconsin, has become the focal point of an intense search operation for missing 3-year-old Elijah Vue, last seen nearly two weeks ago. The disappearance has sparked a massive community and law enforcement effort to locate the young boy, with the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) and local authorities leading the charge.

Elijah Vue vanished on February 20, under circumstances that have led to a significant criminal investigation. Following his disappearance, the FBI has announced a reward of up to $15,000 for information leading to Elijah’s whereabouts, highlighting the urgency and seriousness of the search.

Over the weekend, specialized search crews from the Wisconsin National Guard were deployed across Manitowoc County. Their efforts were supported by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which assisted dive teams in examining the waters near Lake Michigan and the Twin River. The search has been extensive, utilizing drones and dog teams to explore various areas based on specific leads.

The investigation into Elijah’s disappearance has revealed troubling details regarding his care. Prosecutors have charged Jesse Vang, the man with whom Elijah was last known to be staying, with felony child neglect. Additionally, Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, faces charges of felony child neglect and two misdemeanour counts of resisting or obstructing an officer, further complicating the case.

The Two Rivers Police Department has been actively updating the public through Facebook, urging residents to remain vigilant and to support the search by displaying blue and green ribbons and lights. This symbolic gesture aims to keep the community united in hope and determination to find Elijah.

As the search continues, both Baur and Vang have made their initial court appearances, with preliminary hearings scheduled for March 7. The legal proceedings are closely watched by a concerned community eager for answers and the safe return of young Elijah.

Authorities encourage anyone with information about Elijah Vue’s disappearance or whereabouts to come forward. Tips can be sent to the Two Rivers Police Department tip line or Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers, ensuring that any piece of information, no matter how small, is thoroughly investigated.
