- Claudette Colvin: A 15 year coloured girl refused to give her seat on a segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Her act of defiance was a pivotal moment in the civil rights movement. She was the prelude to Rosa Park.
- Philo Farnsworth: He was an American inventor who developed the first all-electronic television system. While Marconi and Edison are etched in our memory, he remained a whisper. Despite his patent battles, Farnsworth persistence was crucial in developing the foundation of modern television.
- Hedy Lamarr: An iconic Hollywood actress who invented a frequency hopping technology that laid the groundwork for modern WIFI, Bluetooth and GPS. During WWII she collaborated with others to develop this technology. Sadly, their technology wasn’t immediately implemented during the war. It was after the WWII that its potential was fully realized.
