The VR tourism app TREKS lets users explore real-world landmarks in virtual reality while burning up to 500 calories an hour

Virtuix is revolutionising virtual travel with its latest app, TREKS, an immersive tourism experience designed for the Omni One VR treadmill. Launching on 6th March, TREKS synchronises real-world movement with breathtaking 360-degree video, allowing users to physically walk through iconic locations such as the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and New York City.

This exclusive title, developed by Virtuix Studios, will be available on the Omni One Game Store for $30. At launch, users can explore four major destinations:

  • Grand Canyon – Traverse scenic trails and gaze over towering cliffs.
  • Niagara Falls – Experience the awe-inspiring power of the falls from both the US and Canada.
  • New York City – Wander through Times Square, Central Park, and even cross the Brooklyn Bridge.
  • Saudi Arabia – Step back in time at Fort Masmak and admire the grandeur of Al Rajhi Mosque.

Virtuix has ambitious plans to expand TREKS with DLC updates featuring additional global landmarks, historical sites, and natural wonders. The company also claims that an hour of walking within the app burns an estimated 500 calories, making TREKS a unique fusion of fitness and exploration.

“With TREKS, you’re not just watching these destinations—you’re moving through them,” said Jan Goetgeluk, CEO of Virtuix. “It’s a great way to stay active while exploring some of the world’s most iconic places. Fitness and adventure go hand in hand, and TREKS brings that to life in a whole new way.”

The Omni One VR treadmill, priced at $3,495, offers a fully integrated virtual experience. It includes a custom Pico 4 Enterprise headset, which supports both standalone apps and PC VR gaming via wired or wireless tethering. This latest expansion follows Virtuix’s announcement that the Omni One now supports over 55 games, including Arizona Sunshine Remake, Arizona Sunshine 2, and Into The Radius.

Additionally, Omni One’s compatibility with SteamVR allows users to customise controls and tweak game settings for immersive walking experiences, even in titles not specifically designed for VR treadmills.

With TREKS, Virtuix is pushing the boundaries of virtual travel, turning VR into a high-intensity, full-body experience. Whether players are looking for adventure, fitness, or just a way to explore the world from home, TREKS promises to be a game-changer in immersive tourism.
