Brother’s brutal assault on mother ends in tragedy, leaving daughter haunted

In a heartbreaking incident that unfolded in Newport, Wales, a simple argument over a bacon sandwich turned fatal, as Lewis Bush, 26, brutally attacked his mother, Kelly Pitt, 44, leading to her tragic death. Jordan Bush, 22, the daughter of the victim, recounts the devastating final phone call from her mother, who pleaded for help during the horrifying assault.

The shocking incident occurred in May 2023 when an enraged Lewis Bush, in a fit of anger over the sandwich dispute, subjected Kelly to a violent assault. Jordan, who received a call during the altercation, could hear Lewis “shouting and screaming” at her mother. Little did she know that it would be the last time she spoke to her.

Despite the distressed plea from Kelly for her daughter to call the police, Jordan didn’t immediately take action, assuming it was another episode of their regular fights. Tragically, Lewis went on to brutally murder his mother by punching, kicking, and stamping on her, leaving her with internal bleeding and 41 rib fractures. Jordan’s partner discovered Kelly’s lifeless body two days later.

Haunted by guilt, Jordan expressed, “The guilt of not calling 999 will haunt me forever. Little did I know that it was the last time I’d speak to her. Lewis and mum always had a complicated relationship, but she never stopped loving him. I guess that was her downfall – she cared too much for someone who didn’t deserve it.”

Despite the long history of domestic violence suffered by Kelly at the hands of her son, Lewis initially denied murder. However, just 17 days before the trial was set to begin, he changed his plea to guilty. In November 2023, Lewis Bush was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 16 years.

Jordan revealed the strained relationship between her and Lewis, which worsened after the loss of their sister, Lauren Bush, in April 2021. Reflecting on the tragic incident, she said, “This Christmas will be hard – while tears dry, I’ll never stop mourning my mum. I have no family left now that my mum has been ripped away from me because Lewis is certainly no brother of mine.”
