Mark’s brother, Paul, shared the heartbreaking details on Facebook, revealing that Mark “lost his life trying to save the lives of two of his children.” According to the post, Mark successfully evacuated his wife Andrea and two children sleeping upstairs to safety. However, the courageous attempt to rescue the other two children from their bedrooms upstairs ended in tragedy.

The family, well-known for their dedication to ministry, faces an unimaginable loss. Mark, a vocational pastor at Foundation Church, and his wife have eight children, according to the pastor’s biography on the church’s website.

Mark was remembered as an exceptionally giving person with a profound heart for those facing homelessness and addiction. Family member Hugh Rose expressed the profound impact Mark had on the lives of others, stating, “Mark was the most giving person that you could ever imagine, and he had a heart for people who were homeless and on drugs, and that’s what their ministry and their church was all about.”

Three other individuals sustained injuries in the tragic incident and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, later being released in the morning. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, and an investigation is underway, led by the state’s fire and explosions bureau.

As the family grapples with the devastating loss, arrangements for their loved ones are yet to be made. Hugh Rose shared that the entire family is in shock, emphasising the time it will take for them to gather their strength and come to terms with the unimaginable tragedy.
