Tottenham rocked by daylight stabbing as Air Ambulance airlifts victim and knifeman evades capture

Panic gripped a North London neighbourhood on Thursday following a shocking Tottenham knife attack that left a young man seriously injured, with the dangerous suspect still on the loose.

The incident unfolded around Great Cambridge Road in Tottenham, where stunned passers-by witnessed emergency services flood the scene. A man in his 20s had been stabbed in broad daylight, sparking fears of escalating street violence in the area.

Emergency responders acted swiftly. The London Air Ambulance landed nearby to evacuate the victim to hospital as the London Ambulance Service and police secured the area. While the victim’s condition is now described as non-life-threatening, the brazen nature of the assault has rattled the community.

“It was mayhem,” said one eyewitness, who saw the police cordon off part of the road as paramedics treated the victim. “There was shouting, flashing lights, and then the chopper came in. People were just frozen, watching.”

As dusk fell, the Metropolitan Police confirmed no arrests had been made. The attacker had vanished, prompting a city-wide manhunt and leaving residents gripped by uncertainty. Armed officers and detectives are now combing the area for witnesses and CCTV footage in hopes of quickly identifying the suspect.

In a statement to MyLondon, a police spokesperson said: “Officers were dispatched following reports of a stabbing. Our investigation is ongoing and we are doing everything possible to track down the suspect. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”

The stabbing has reignited concerns about knife crime in the capital, especially in areas like Tottenham which have seen multiple violent incidents in recent months. The randomness and brazenness of this attack — happening in full view during the day — has left parents, shopkeepers and schoolchildren on edge.

Local councillor Nadine Barnes called the incident “deeply distressing” and urged the community to stand together in the face of fear. “We cannot allow this level of violence to become normalised,” she said. “People must feel safe walking their own streets, and we need urgent action to ensure that’s the case.”

Authorities are appealing directly to the public. Residents are being asked to report anything unusual they saw around Great Cambridge Road during the time of the attack, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Police believe someone in the busy area may hold a crucial piece of information.

Officers have also stepped up patrols around nearby estates, schools, and local transport links to reassure the public and deter further violence. Still, many locals say the presence of police tape and search teams brings little peace when the attacker remains unidentified.

“It’s not enough,” said one mother, holding her daughter’s hand as they passed the scene. “We want arrests. We want this person caught before they do it again.”

As night fell, the area remained under heavy surveillance, with residents lighting up local social media groups to share updates, sightings, and theories. The Metropolitan Police say no detail will be overlooked in their pursuit of the culprit.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 quoting CAD 2728/04Apr or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

In the meantime, Tottenham — a proud, diverse community — is once again facing questions about safety, violence, and how such an attack could happen in plain sight, in the heart of the day.
