Tennessee Titans make significant moves on first day of NFL’s bargaining period, signing Tony Pollard to fill the void left by departing running back Derrick Henry

In a bold move to kick off the NFL’s bargaining period, the Tennessee Titans have made major changes to their roster, including a notable replacement for star running back Derrick Henry. The Titans’ general manager, Ran Carthon, wasted no time in reshaping the team’s lineup, with Tony Pollard emerging as the key acquisition.

Replacing the four-time Pro Bowl running back Henry, the Titans secured Tony Pollard with a lucrative three-year contract worth $24 million. Pollard’s signing marks a significant shift in the Titans’ backfield and signals the beginning of a new era for the franchise.

Pollard, 26, brings a wealth of talent and experience to Tennessee, having showcased his abilities with the Dallas Cowboys since being drafted in the fourth round in 2019. With back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Pollard has proven himself as a dynamic playmaker, demonstrating versatility both on the ground and through the air.

In the 2023 season alone, Pollard amassed over 1,000 rushing yards and contributed significantly in the passing game, highlighting his multifaceted skill set. With a career total of 3,621 rushing yards and 176 receptions, Pollard’s arrival provides the Titans with a potent offensive weapon to complement their existing roster.

The Titans didn’t stop there, bolstering their secondary with the addition of cornerback Chidobe Awuzie on a three-year deal worth $36 million. Awuzie’s familiarity with new Titans coach Brian Callahan, stemming from their time together in Cincinnati, adds further depth to Tennessee’s defence.

Additionally, the Titans addressed their offensive line by securing Denver centre Lloyd Cushenberry on a four-year contract worth $50 million. Cushenberry’s imposing presence and experience as a starter will provide stability and protection for the Titans’ offence, fortifying the team in the trenches.

As the NFL’s bargaining period continues, the Titans’ proactive approach sets the tone for a transformative offseason, positioning the team for success in the upcoming season.
