Buckingham Palace announces the sudden loss of Thomas Kingston, leaving the royal family and loved ones in mourning

Buckingham Palace has confirmed the sad news of Thomas Kingston’s passing, the husband of Lady Gabriella Kingston, daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent. The family released a statement expressing their deep sorrow: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Thomas Kingston, our beloved husband, son, and brother. Tom was an exceptional man who lit up the lives of all who knew him. His death has come as a great shock to the whole family, and we ask you to respect our privacy as we mourn his passing.”

Lady Gabriella shared a personal photo of her late husband on social media, capturing a moment of him smiling in a pink shirt by the water, reflecting the happier times they shared.

The King and Queen have extended their heartfelt condolences to Lady Gabriella and the Kingston family. A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace stated: “The King and the Queen have been informed of Thomas’s death and join Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and all those who knew him in grieving a much-loved member of the family. In particular, Their Majesties send their most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Gabriella and to all the Kingston family.”

Thomas Kingston, aged 45, was discovered deceased at a property in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, on Sunday evening. Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 6 pm. An inquest will be conducted to determine the cause of death, although there are no suspicious circumstances involved.

The couple was last seen in public less than two weeks ago at a Shakespeare event in London, both dressed in royal blue. The event was also attended by Queen Camilla.

Mr. Kingston married Lady Gabriella Windsor on May 18, 2019, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, with notable guests including Queen Elizabeth II and the late Duke of Edinburgh. A financier by profession, Mr. Kingston had a distinguished career, including working in Baghdad, Iraq, to secure the release of hostages and serving as a director of Devonport Capital.

The royal family and Mr. Kingston’s relatives are receiving support from the Royal Household during this challenging time. No details regarding funeral arrangements have been disclosed yet.

Lady Gabriella’s parents, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, were seen attending the memorial service for King Constantine II of Greece at St George’s Chapel, despite the family’s loss. The late King Constantine was Lady Gabriella’s godfather. The Prince of Wales, another godchild of the former Greek monarch, withdrew from the event due to a personal matter unrelated to Mr. Kingston’s death.
