Stephen Willits plunges to death hours after engagement in Corfu hotel
In a heartbreaking turn of events, a British man, Stephen Willits, lost his life in a tragic accident just hours after proposing to his girlfriend during a holiday in Corfu, Greece. The 45-year-old Alton Towers worker, known affectionately as ‘Mr Fix-It’, had been celebrating his engagement with hotel guests and loved ones back in the UK before the incident occurred.
The couple had returned to their hotel room around midnight after a celebratory meal and drinks at the hotel bar. Tragically, Stephen fell from the third-floor balcony of the hotel while his fiancée was in the bathroom, suffering fatal injuries. The inquest revealed that Stephen was ‘heavily intoxicated’ at the time of the fall, which may have contributed to the accident.
