The anticipation surrounding ITV’s Celebrity Big Brother reboot reached a fever pitch when it was revealed that a £2 million “war chest” had been set aside to secure a sensational lineup for the show’s return after a six-year hiatus. Among the desired stars was none other than X Factor legend and music manager Louis Walsh, 71.

However, even the allure of a substantial payday failed to sway the Irishman, who disclosed his reasons for declining the offer. Speaking to Sunday World, Louis stated, “I have no plans to do any reality TV this year as right now it’s all about the music for me with Westlife and Next In Line.”

Louis, known for managing Boyzone and mentoring artists like Shayne Ward and JLS during his 15-year involvement with The X Factor, emphasised that personal fame was never his goal. He shared, “Believe it or not, I never wanted any personal fame — that is something that happened unexpectedly when Simon Cowell asked me to be a judge on The X Factor. It’s still the biggest buzz I get in life.”

With the success of Westlife on the global stage, Louis expressed his contentment and highlighted the band’s current popularity. The X Factor stalwart seems resolute in prioritising his music ventures over reality TV appearances.

ITV executives are reportedly aiming for a star-studded lineup for the rebooted Celebrity Big Brother, set to air on ITV1 in March. Speculated names include controversial Wag Rebekah Vardy and Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.

A TV insider revealed, “The team behind the programme are being clever about the kind of celebs they’re considering. They don’t just want big names in there — they want stars who will bring something truly intriguing.”

ITV has previously invested substantial amounts in celebrity lineups, with the 2022 I’m A Celebrity splurging over £2 million for a diverse cast, including controversial figures like former Health Secretary Matt Hancock and singer Boy George.

Despite the relatively modest overnight viewing figures, the 2023 reboot of Big Brother on ITV2 garnered 38 million streams, making it one of ITVX’s top five most-streamed shows. The upcoming Celebrity Big Brother, hosted by AJ Odudu and Will Best, is anticipated to surpass these figures, although no confirmed housemates have been announced.

A spokesperson for Celebrity Big Brother declined to comment on the speculations. The excitement continues as fans eagerly await the star-studded cast for the highly anticipated comeback.
