SeriesFest turns Denver into a TV hotspot with special guests, awards, and more

Denver is gearing up for SeriesFest 2024, an annual celebration that transforms the city into the epicentre of television for a week. The event, known for its spotlight on independent episodic TV, is set to dazzle attendees from May 1-5, primarily at the Sie Film Center, with a mix of screenings, panels, competitions, and parties. The festival will culminate in a grand closing night at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, featuring Emmy Award-winning comedian Hasan Minhaj.

Minhaj, acclaimed for his Netflix series “Patriot Act,” promises to bring his insightful humour to the festival’s finale on May 5. Tickets for this much-anticipated performance are now available, promising an evening of entertainment against the stunning backdrop of Red Rocks.

In addition to Minhaj’s performance, SeriesFest 2024 will honour the talents of Oscar nominee Minnie Driver with the SeriesFest Excellence in Acting Award. Driver’s diverse body of work, spanning from “Good Will Hunting” to “The Riches” and the forthcoming season of “Serpent Queen” on Starz, highlights her versatility and enduring appeal in the industry.

The festival will also recognize Shondaland, the powerhouse storytelling studio led by Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers, with the Impact in Television Award. This acknowledgement comes as Shondaland continues to support emerging female directors through a mentorship program initiated in 2018.

A special “Grey’s Anatomy” panel featuring showrunner Meg Marinis alongside actors James Pickens Jr., Kevin McKidd, and Caterina Scorsone is set to provide fans with an inside look at the long-running series. Additional details and event information are available at seriesfest.com, inviting television enthusiasts to partake in this unique celebration of the medium.

SeriesFest not only showcases the latest in television but also offers a platform for new voices and stories to be heard, reinforcing Denver’s role as a significant hub for television creativity and innovation.
