Get ready, ladies! An expert is sounding the alarm on the four crucial ‘red flag’ symptoms of cervical cancer, urging everyone to stay on top of screenings for this sneaky foe.

Cervical cancer, a sly culprit that lurks in the cervix – that bit between the lady bits and the womb, is making waves in the UK. Cancer Research UK estimates around 3,200 folks get slapped with a cervical cancer diagnosis each year, with a heartbreaking 850 losing the battle annually.

Here’s the scoop: 99.8% of these cases are preventable! Yes, you heard it right. The power is in our hands, ladies. The earlier you catch this troublemaker, the better your odds. So, buckle up and pay attention to the warning signs. Some unlucky souls don’t show symptoms, and it’s only through screening that the devil is unmasked.

Alexandra Penk, the litigation executive at Patient Claim Line, spilled the tea on major symptoms just in time for Cervical Cancer Awareness Week, starting January 22. So, mark your calendars!

Now, what’s this cervical cancer fuss all about? According to Cervical Cancer UK, it’s when your cervix’s lining cells decide to throw a wild party, growing uncontrollably. Picture that – a party you never wanted!

But hold on, it’s not a hereditary thing. Blame it on a pesky virus called high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV). According to the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, a whopping 99.7% of cases are caused by this persistent party crasher. It spreads like wildfire through intimate skin-to-skin contact in the nether regions. Stats say around 80% of us will play host to some type of HPV at some point, but most dodge the cervical cancer bullet.

Now, let’s talk about red flags. Painful romps in the bedroom, weird vaginal discharges, pelvis pain, and abnormal bleeding – these are the signals that something’s off. Alexandra Penk warns, “Not everyone diagnosed with cervical cancer will display symptoms, so it’s crucial to attend regular cervical screening assessments.”

Prevention is the name of the game, darlings! Go for those screenings, stay woke about the symptoms, and snag that HPV vaccine if you’re 11-18. Spread the word to your crew, so everyone knows the score. The expert says, “This is why it is so important to raise awareness of cervical cancer; so people can take the right steps to prevent it where possible.” Stay fierce, ladies!💃✨
