The new Galaxy Watch for kids mode lets parents monitor their children’s smartwatch usage, ensuring safe communication and location tracking, while also offering a range of educational apps
Samsung has unveiled a new feature for the Galaxy Watch 7, introducing a kid-friendly mode that enables parents to control their children’s smartwatch experience. This mode, rolled out via Google Family Link, allows parents to set up and manage the device without requiring a separate smartphone. It offers a safer, more streamlined option for children to use a wearable with basic functions like calling, texting, and location tracking.
The Galaxy Watch for Kids mode supports Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T networks, providing features like a GPS tracker to locate the device and a School Time mode to limit functions during school hours. Parents can also control which apps their children can download, while emergency SOS features ensure safety by allowing children to alert parents by pressing the side button five times.

While Samsung is playing catch-up with Apple’s 2020 Family Setup and Google’s 2023 Fitbit Ace LTE, this new feature fills a significant gap for parents who have been seeking an easier way to set up and manage wearable tech for their kids.
