Ozark creator Mark Williams brings together a dynamic cast for the new thriller, set to air late 2024

Mark Williams, the creative force behind the popular series Ozark, has introduced an impressive lineup of new cast members for his upcoming project, “Safe Harbor.” The series, described as an action thriller, is generating buzz with its unique premise and talented ensemble.

Variety reports that the show has added notable actors such as Colm Meaney of Star Trek fame, Damien Molony known for his roles in Being Human and Brassic, and Pauline McLynn from Shameless and EastEnders. They join an already stellar cast that includes Jack Gleeson and Alfie Allen, both recognized from their time on Game of Thrones, as well as Charlie Murphy of Happy Valley and Dutch actor Martijn Lakemeier.

“Safe Harbor” centers around a duo of ambitious hackers, portrayed by Allen and Lakemeier, who are eager to make their mark in the tech elite. Their quest leads them to an unlikely alliance with the Irish Mafia, who enlist their skills to covertly maneuver drug shipments via Rotterdam’s sophisticated harbor systems.

Williams expressed his excitement about the project, noting, “It’s a wonderful treat to watch these great European actors bring life to our band of colorful characters.” The addition of these actors, he suggests, enriches the narrative, promising a gripping experience for viewers.

Femke Wolting, the executive producer, echoed Williams’ sentiments. She highlighted the global appeal of the series, emphasizing its international cast and production team. “This unique thriller will leave audiences on the edge of their seat,” she stated, affirming the high expectations surrounding the show.

With filming having commenced late last year, “Safe Harbor” is slated for release at the end of 2024. Meanwhile, a second season is reportedly in the works, underscoring the confidence the production team has in the series’ potential.
