After a quiet Christmas in California, the Sussexes plan to visit King Charles, seeking his blessing and rekindling family ties

As the holiday season unfolds, speculations arise about a potential reunion between Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and King Charles in the upcoming year. According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, the couple “need the King and his blessing far more than the King needs them.” Seward further expressed optimism about the reunion, stating, “Obviously King Charles wants to see his son and his grandchildren, and last summer he apparently invited them to Balmoral, which they turned down.”

The Mirror reached out to representatives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for comment on the potential reunion, awaiting official confirmation.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex chose to spend a quiet Christmas at their Montecito home in California, in contrast to the Royal family’s festivities in Sandringham, Norfolk, over 5,500 miles away. Sources reveal that Prince Harry shared insights into their intimate Christmas celebrations, recounting their first holiday away from the royal family in 2020. The couple adorned their Montecito home with a “magnificent” tree, symbolizing their connection to Harry’s family in the UK.

Notably, the last Christmas the Sussexes spent with the Royals was in 2018, prior to the arrival of their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The couple joined the late Queen Elizabeth II for her annual lunch at Buckingham Palace on December 19 that year, seven months after their royal wedding.

Princess Diana’s confidant, Paul Burrell, weighed in on the potential visit, emphasizing that Prince Harry is well aware of the protocols and rules surrounding royal interactions. Burrell stated, “He knows that even though he could probably drive up to Kensington Palace and go through the police because he’s a prince… he won’t go anywhere near a royal residence and he will not bother the Royals unless he’s invited in.”

As the anticipation for a royal reunion builds, the dynamics between the Sussexes and the Royal family continue to evolve, marking a potential turning point in their relationship. The coming year may witness a significant chapter in the ongoing saga of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with the monarchy.
