Shocking incident in Gurugram leaves customers in critical condition

A restaurant manager in Gurugram, India, has been arrested following a horrifying incident where customers were rushed to the hospital after being served dry ice as a ‘mouth freshener.’ The incident, which occurred at a restaurant in Gurugram City, resulted in five customers being hospitalized, with two in critical condition.

Dry ice, a solid form of carbon dioxide, is commonly used in restaurants for its cooling properties but is not fit for human consumption. Consumption or exposure to dry ice can cause serious health issues, including freezing of tissues in the mouth, oesophagus, and stomach.

In a video of the incident, diners can be seen panicking as blood fills their mouths, leading to vomiting and intense pain. The customers attempted to alleviate the burning sensation by swilling their mouths with water and using standard ice.

An investigation revealed that the mouth freshener served to the customers contained solid carbon dioxide, leading to severe reactions. The restaurant manager has been arrested and is under investigation for ‘poisoning and intent to cause harm.’

Authorities are conducting forensic tests on the contents of the mouth freshener packet, and a search is underway for the restaurant owner, who is currently missing. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with improper handling and use of dry ice in food service establishments.
