In a poignant address, PM Shehbaz Sharif commits to unwavering support for China, following a tragic assault that claimed lives and aimed to disrupt the Pak-China friendship

In an atmosphere thick with mourning and resolve, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stood before the grief-stricken assembly of Chinese engineers and Pakistani officials, pledging an unbreakable bond and justice in the aftermath of the harrowing Bisham terror attack. The solemn gathering, convened at the Kass camp of the China Gazhouba Group Company, was marked by a shared sorrow over the loss of five Chinese nationals and a Pakistani driver on March 26, an act of violence starkly aimed at undermining the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.

The Prime Minister’s words were a salve to the wounded hearts, as he declared the attack a cowardly attempt to sever the “iron brothers” Pakistan and China. With a voice firm in conviction, he assured that every possible measure would be taken to secure the lives of Chinese engineers working across Pakistan on various development projects. This comes amidst the backdrop of an unwavering commitment to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a testament to the deep-rooted collaboration between the two nations.

Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Dasu was not just an official duty but a personal mission to convey condolences and affirm Pakistan’s solidarity with China. His promise of maximum security measures and a thorough investigation into the attack underscores a determined stance against terrorism. This resolve was further echoed in his vow to leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice, ensuring that the friendship between Pakistan and China would continue to thrive, undeterred by the machinations of their adversaries.

The attack, executed with a brutality that shocked the nation, saw a suicide bomber targeting a vehicle carrying Chinese engineers in Shangla’s Besham city. This vile act has prompted a swift response, with over ten individuals linked to the attack being apprehended by the Counter-Terrorism Department. Reports suggest the involvement of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan-affiliated groups, highlighting the complex web of challenges facing Pakistan’s security landscape.

As the country reels from this tragedy, the leadership, including PM Shehbaz, President Asif Ali Zardari, and COAS General Asim Munir, have united in condemnation of the attack and in their determination to uphold justice. The incident has not only sparked a national outcry but has also led to a pause in civil work on significant projects like the Dasu and Diamer-Bhasha Dams, reflecting the profound impact of security concerns on international cooperation.

As Pakistan navigates these turbulent waters, the solidarity between Pakistan and China emerges stronger, a beacon of resilience in the face of adversity. The commitment to safeguarding the lives of those who contribute to the nation’s development and to fostering an environment where international partnerships can flourish is more pronounced than ever. The Bisham attack, while a moment of profound sorrow, has become a rallying point for a renewed commitment to peace, security, and the unshakeable bond between two nations standing together against the shadows of terror
