The Play For Dream MR headset, a high-end Chinese product, wowed CES 2025 attendees with its Apple Vision Pro-like design, cutting-edge specs, and immersive visuals.
At CES 2025, the Play For Dream MR headset stole the spotlight, setting a new bar for high-end XR hardware. A fusion of Apple Vision Pro’s sleek design and the Quest Pro’s functionality, this Chinese-made headset features the latest Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 chipset and 4K micro-OLED displays, ensuring a premium experience.
The device’s design is inspired by the Apple Vision Pro, with a glossy black plastic shell, but it sets itself apart with a Quest Pro-style rear battery, offering an optimal weight distribution for prolonged use. Upon wearing the headset, it immediately impressed with its comfort, as well as an intuitive automatic IPD adjustment via built-in eye tracking.
The visual experience was nothing short of stunning. During testing with Half Life: Alyx, the clarity was extraordinary, with no noticeable peripheral distortion. The textures were crisp, and the colours were vivid, offering an unparalleled visual experience, outshining many existing headsets on the market today.
After the hands-on session, I sat down with Lejong Chua and Marvin Madriaga from Play For Dream, who revealed how the device’s design and functionality were crafted to merge the best elements of Apple’s and Meta’s flagship XR products. With its impressive hardware specs and smooth user experience, the Play For Dream MR is certainly one to watch in 2025.
