Adele’s café sparks debate after owner asks family to leave amid tantrums

In a coffee-fueled drama, the spotlight falls on Adele’s Café in Horseshoe Bay, Magnetic Island, where a family outing turned frosty as the owner, Adrian Dall’oste, took a decisive step, asking them to leave due to the disruptive behavior of their crying children.

A day of ice cream and family fun took an unexpected turn for a couple with two toddlers, aged around two and three, as their visit to Adele’s Café became the center of a heated debate about children’s behavior in public spaces.

According to Dall’oste, the children’s tantrums escalated to a point where the eldest child took matters into his own hands, literally, by clearing shelves and throwing items on the counter, including a metal flask that narrowly avoided shattering the tiles.

Despite attempts to signal that the disturbance would pass, the family remained seated outside, prompting the café owner to make a tough call after 15 minutes of disruption.

“I told him, ‘No, it is bad parenting,'” Dall’oste asserted, as he approached the family and requested them to vacate the premises.

While some customers rallied behind the café owner, commending him for prioritizing the overall experience for patrons, others, like Laura Edwards, expressed strong disapproval. Edwards confronted Dall’oste and later took to social media to discourage people from patronizing Adele’s Café.

Social media reactions were mixed, with one user defending the owner’s decision, stating, “Good on the business owner, I would have done the exact same thing. He has a duty to make sure everyone has an enjoyable experience.”

Edwards, however, stands by her stance, emphasizing the challenges of parenting and the need for understanding when children exhibit emotional outbursts.

Despite concerns about potential business repercussions, Dall’oste and his wife were surprised to witness a surge in sales the day after the incident, suggesting that not everyone was deterred by the controversy surrounding the café.
