Subtle farewell to a classic: Nestle’s drifter chocolate bar officially retired, leaving fans in sorrow
Nestle has shattered the hopes of chocolate enthusiasts by confirming the discontinuation of the beloved Drifter chocolate bar. The devastating news surfaced when a fan reached out to Nestle on X (formerly Twitter), inquiring about the availability of Drifter bars.
The Drifter, a nostalgic treat launched in the 1980s, featured a delectable combination of wafer, caramel, and a coating of milk chocolate. Resembling the format of the Twix bar, each Drifter pack included two long and narrow rectangular bars.
Expressing their yearning for Drifter bars, the fan posted on X, stating, “I need a Drifter bar or 10 in my life right now, but cannot find them anywhere, so Nestle still make them?” Unfortunately, Nestle responded with disheartening news, stating, “Sorry to have to give you disappointing news, unfortunately the Drifter bar has been discontinued from our range.”

Despite its discontinuation, fans have persistently called for its return, even launching a petition on Change.org in 2021. A plea made in October highlighted the Drifter’s unique quality for dipping in a cup of tea, sparking further discussions about its comeback.
Nestle, responding to the ongoing requests, maintained their stance on the discontinuation, stating, “It’s great to hear you’re a fan. No plans yet, but we’ll surely let the team know you’d like to see them back.” This response has fueled the disappointment of Drifter enthusiasts who have expressed their love for the bar on social media.
The news about Drifter follows Nestle’s recent confirmation of discontinuing the Caramac bar after 64 years, adding to the heartbreak for fans of classic chocolate treats. As fans continue to mourn the loss of these iconic bars, the future of these beloved chocolate varieties remains uncertain.
