Community members speak out on Natalia Grace’s troubling behavior in shocking documentary

In a disturbing revelation, neighbors of Natalia Grace, the adopted girl at the center of a controversial case, have shared chilling details about their encounters with her in a recent documentary. In 2010, Kristine and Michael Barnett adopted Natalia, believing her to be a six-year-old child. However, in the iD documentary “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace,” released earlier this year, the Barnetts accused Natalia of being an adult with dwarfism posing as a minor.

The Barnetts alleged that Natalia not only pretended to be much younger but also attempted to harm them. They moved her out of their home to an apartment in Indiana in 2011, legally changing her age to 22. Charges of neglect were initially filed against the family but were later dropped.

In the documentary, Natalia’s neighbors provided unsettling accounts of her behavior within the community. Sue McCallum described Natalia as a “pest” and claimed that nobody liked her. McCallum alleged that Natalia made her grandson feel uncomfortable, prompting him to ask her to leave their house, leading to a ban on her return.

According to McCallum, Natalia tended to associate with older men and engaged in inappropriate conversations with them. Toby Miles, another neighbor, spoke about Natalia’s behavior becoming increasingly uncomfortable and almost “borderline inappropriate.”

The accusations escalated as Toby Miles characterized Natalia as being “like a serial killer or something.” Melanie Miles, Toby’s wife, claimed that Natalia had reportedly said she “stood over [the Barnetts] with a knife,” prompting the family to remove all knives from her reach. The Miles family alleged that Natalia also confessed to attempting to poison her adoptive parents, leading her to be confined to the garage for a period.

Natalia denies the allegations of trying to harm her adoptive parents. In a follow-up documentary, “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks,” set to be released in the new year, Natalia’s real age is confirmed, and she accuses Kristine of training her to lie about her age, condemning the Barnetts for allegedly ruining her life.

The shocking revelations unfold in this unsettling case that has captured public attention, shedding light on the mysterious circumstances surrounding Natalia Grace.
