Mike Pinder, legendary keyboardist and vocalist for the Moody Blues, dies surrounded by music and family love

Mike Pinder, the influential keyboardist and founding member of the iconic rock band the Moody Blues, died on Wednesday at the age of 82. His family confirmed his peaceful passing in a heartfelt statement distributed through social media, highlighting his final days enriched with music and familial love.

Pinder’s journey with the Moody Blues began in Birmingham, 1964, when he and Ray Thomas formed the band. Known for their rich symphonic sound, the Moody Blues pioneered the progressive rock genre, especially with their groundbreaking album, “Days of Future Passed.” This album brought to life the enduring classic, “Nights in White Satin.”

Describing Pinder’s impact, bandmate Justin Hayward reflected on his exceptional musicality and warmth. “Mike was a natural born musician,” Hayward remarked. “He played with heartfelt warmth and profound love, influencing my own musical path deeply.”
