British businessman murdered—Campbell Scott, a UK entrepreneur, was found dead in a Kenyan forest after vanishing from Nairobi last week
A British businessman has been found murdered in Kenya after vanishing on 16 February. Campbell Scott, 58, a senior director at data analytics firm Fico, was discovered dead in a remote forest, his body dumped in a sack. Scott had been in Nairobi for a three-day conference when he went missing.
His remains were discovered on Saturday by animal herders in Makongo Forest, around 60 miles from the city. Early investigations suggest he was strangled. Police have arrested a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter on suspicion of abduction and murder.
Scott checked into Nairobi’s JW Marriott hotel on 15 February. He left briefly at 2 pm before returning at 4 pm. The next morning, at around 11:15 am, he left again—this time, he never returned.
That evening, a colleague tried calling his UK-registered phone at 6 pm, but it was already switched off. When Scott failed to show up for his workshop at TransUnion on 18 February, his disappearance was officially reported, and a police search began.
Kenyan authorities traced his last known movements to Westlands, an upscale area known for its nightlife. Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) believe Scott visited a bar there the night before he vanished and returned on the day of his disappearance to meet a friend.

Following the grim discovery of his body, Makueni County police commander Alice Kimeli confirmed that a postmortem would be conducted at Makueni County Referral Hospital Mortuary to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, two suspects—a taxi driver and a nightclub waiter—have been arrested as police probe a possible kidnap-for-ransom scheme. Authorities are now working to establish if more people were involved.
Scott, originally from Dunfermline, Scotland, was a respected figure in global finance. He joined Fico in 2014 after working at Experian UK and was based in the company’s London office, overseeing regulatory compliance.
Before his body was found, Fico issued a statement saying they were “working with local partners and authorities to investigate the matter.”
Now, with confirmation of his death, the company has urged people to avoid speculation, adding:
“Our thoughts are with Campbell’s family and friends. Please respect his privacy.”
Authorities continue to investigate the murder, hoping to bring those responsible to justice.
