A shocking new documentary exposes how Matthew Perry was given a fatal ketamine dose before his death
A harrowing new documentary has unveiled disturbing details surrounding Matthew Perry’s tragic overdose in October 2023. Matthew Perry: A Hollywood Tragedy, released on Peacock, reveals how the Friends star was injected with 27 ketamine shots in his final three days, administered by individuals with no medical training.
The revelations paint a damning picture of reckless medical malpractice and exploitation, with accusations that Perry’s desperation for the drug was fuelled by those who should have protected him.
Shocking Allegations Against Doctors
Former U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada, who led the investigation into Perry’s death, detailed how Dr. Salvador Plasencia arranged clandestine meetings—including one in a parking lot—to supply Perry with ketamine. Rather than administering the drug in a clinical setting, Plasencia allegedly provided it to Perry’s live-in assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who had no medical qualifications.
“Doctors are not supposed to inject people in the back of parking lots,” Estrada stated.
Despite witnessing Perry “freeze up” from the drug’s adverse effects, Plasencia continued to supply ketamine, turning a blind eye to the obvious danger. When Perry’s demand outpaced what Plasencia and another doctor, Mark Chavez, could provide, they allegedly turned to a supplier known as ‘The Ketamine Queen’, Jasveen Sangha.

On that fateful day, Perry reportedly instructed Iwamasa to “shoot me up with a big one”. Unbeknownst to them, this would be his final request.
It was either in or near his jacuzzi that Perry was given the lethal dose. Hours later, Iwamasa returned from running errands to find the actor dead in the water.
Three of the five individuals charged in connection with Perry’s death—Chavez, Iwamasa, and another associate—have pleaded guilty. Sangha has denied all allegations, while Plasencia, facing multiple charges including conspiracy to distribute ketamine and falsifying documents, has pleaded not guilty.
Exploitation, Negligence, and Hollywood’s Dark Underbelly
Estrada accused the defendants of prioritising financial gain over Perry’s well-being. “They were taking advantage of an individual and letting their greed drive them to endanger Mr. Perry’s life,” he said.
The documentary sheds light on the dark reality of substance abuse in Hollywood, where vulnerable celebrities are often exploited by those entrusted with their care.
As legal proceedings unfold, the documentary leaves one haunting question: Could Matthew Perry’s life have been saved if the people around him had acted responsibly?
